Das Leben ist schön.

Where to even begin!  So much has happened in the past month. (I can’t believe it’s already been a month!)  I’ve gone from backpacking nightmares to finally getting settled into a country I never want to leave.  Aside from living in one of Germany’s sketchiest Studentenwohnheims, I am truly having the best time.  And here I thought I’d never get over my post-Disney depression.
Since I’ve failed to have internet for so long, (which I still do not, as I write to you from Starbucks!) I’m disappointed I couldn’t begin writing a long time ago.  I mean the feelings going through my head during times like being stranded in northern London at midnight, when I’m supposed to be in central London, and the trains are no longer running, and I have about 80 pounds worth of crap to carry, probably would have been rather compelling to read.  However, what my mother and father don’t know in these cases is probably for the better.

Spending the first few days in  Köln was awesome, as it was my first time in Europe ever.  I arrived in Germany and met most of my fellow Badgers for the first time.  Luckily it was the end of Karnivel, so they were all there…it was really nice to know people right away!

This is all of us in front of the Dom.  Yeah it’s beautiful from the outside, but the view from the top is beyond words.  Nonetheless, walking to the top was an experience I don’t plan on repeating ever again.  I think my calves still hurt.

And if any of my fellow Disney family happens to stumble upon my blog at all…may I ask what Mickey Mouse was doing here in Germany?  And why did he take off his head in public, (he was a woman by the way) and then proceed to smoke a cigarette?  Walt would have had a heart attack.

The background of my blog is the lock bridge.  Everyone writes the initials of them and their sweetie on the lock, locks it to the bridge, and throws the key into the river below.  How cute, right?

Overall, London is really going to be hard to beat.  Not only could I eat fish n’ chips every day, but the city is absolutely beautiful.  I mean honestly, what person from the States doesn’t secretly wish they had the ever so charming British accent?  I found three others to travel with and did we ever get our exercise in.  I am proud to say after the initial transportation disaster in England we never took a bus or train again.   You really see so much more by foot, it can’t be beat.

The highlight?  That would obviously be Les Miserables.  If I had it my way I would go to London and see that show once a month for the rest of my life.  Sitting in the dark theater during the finale with a theater full of people just sobbing was incredible.

But really, nothing beats Germany.  The weather was great, so it has been absolutely beautiful.  Potentially looking into during a half marathon here in Europe this summer so I have been running along the Rhine River often.  Breathtaking.

After an awful last semester, I didn’t think life could get this good.  I’m so happy here.  Thanking God every day.

Flunkyball: A Bonn drinking tradition, so dumb, but so fun.

Oh, and not to mention I'm making awesome friends.

Sorry Mom and Dad, but I just might not come home.
Next update might take a while again but I have some exciting adventures planned.  Hello Euro Disney!  :)
